Can we take a break from bad news posts? I come here to relax, not find more reasons why the world is a f'd up place.

Thank you.

Local Man Buys Ice Cream, Happiness Ensues

Tim Joobingham of Pasadena CA had just finished his serving of ice cream for today, Friday March 15. It all started when he realized that his work is tedious, repetetive, boring, and (insert other synonyms here). Working for a local button factory, Tim sensed a need to get out more and enjoy life so at approximately 9:00 am of that day, Tim went to the local Rite Aid (formerly Thrifty's).

"He was just a normal looking guy.." the part-time clerk who was working at the time stated. "I did find the fact that he tried paying me with buttons to be quite funny though" he added with a smile. Tim ordered a scoop of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, his mother's favorite, on a cone. When he took his first lick, he said that it was as if "Happiness washed over me". "I just think that it was really cool how when your tongue touches it, it feels cold. I guess that made me happy" he stated. Soon after that statement, he giggled.

Tim has no further plans on buying more ice cream for today, but now he knows where to go to get some "happiness" in case he is in need for some.

Isn't that what the SUCKAGE forum is for? Posting Good/Bad news? Yes, good point. When I go in there I expect bad news, so no biggie. But in OT, it's been getting on my nerves. If I wanted frayed nerves I'd go on more dates ;)

BTW, life isn't all "peaches and cream" and misery no longer just loves company... it INSISTS on it. :hihi:

We all have to deal with it in our own ways and sometimes sharing thoughts is the best way to deal with it...
Yeah. Seeing how this thread is complaining about all the bad news threads, how come it isn't in the Suckage forum?

Just foolin' around. But I tend to think of the S/NSS forum as being for more personal stuff, not so much for just all bad news.

I wonder if some sort of "BAD NEWS:" warning in thread titles would help people skip over the ones they aren't wanting to see?

All you have to do is read Pimptopia (http://www.chimptopia.com/pimptopia/) from time to time to get updates on mine.
I'm a bit feared 'bout goin' there from work. Or home (got|wife or kids?). :heh:

I put warnings on the stuff that may be "controversial". :hihi:

Come on...how could anything at a place called Pimptopia be controversial? :P ;)

Agreed. Seems as though more bad news stories have been coming up lately.

i didn't see this thread earlier. i was actually prompted to read it in jenny's tirade regarding tirades :hehehmm:

anyhow...i try to mix it up. i mean...i don't just find bad news and throw it in. i usually find stuff to be remarkable, silly, or whatever. i actually find a lot of irony in a lot of the bad news i see...and try to portray it that way.

but as far as pulling punches, i dunno...i mean, life is full of hardships n stuff. i went through the same thing a while back with all the stuff about a stolen presidency and whatnot. the suggestion to me at the time was to not read that stuff if i know it's gonna bug me. i know what it's like to have that sort of thing happen...and i've put warnings on some of the articles i've posted to reflect that. like a warning label..."don't read this if this sort of news would get to you" kind of thing.

if you're talking about my stuff, then maybe if you had more definition to it then i could be more aware. i can't label everything, as people would become sensitized to it and it would become ineffective. but you can PM me with your concerns and i could be more aware of it and stuff.

mojo, i'm just speaking for myself here, but i haven't noticed your news being of the "depressing" sort.

rather, what has gotten on my nerves has been the recent onslaught of "girlfriend stabs boyfriend", "mother clamps jumper cables on son's genitals" stories. maybe you've been responsible for some of them, but i haven't noticed it.

whatever the case, i agree with OC that i'm sick of this stuff. sure, i know people are f---ed up. i know horrible things happen. and quite frankly i don't feel the need to read about it all the time. once every couple weeks is one thing, but 2 stories a day is excessive (and yes, i read pretty much ever post, so it's difficult for me to miss).

it's one thing to read a news story that has some depressing elements (most news is somewhat depressing), but crap like i mentioned above is more "jerry springer" than anything.
