I've got my computer kind of torn open due to a failed drive (IBM, of course). I've got the top off the case, a spare 30G drive sitting on top plugged in in place of my CDROM drive (the failed drive was part of a raid set, so I can't just plug the spare drive in place of the failed one), and the front cover pulled off because I was removing the drive rack to get at the failed drive last night (RMA to IBM). Anyway, that's all to set the scene for what I saw when I was sitting at my desk this morning and looked down at my system. Fortunately, my digital camera was sitting next to me on the desk.

And yes, the computer is running! :heh:

When I first saw Snoops inside the case, my first reaction was almost something along those lines. Fortunatley for him, I saw the humor of the situation and grabbed the camera instead.
Then I grabbed him. ;)

No, he (Snoops) was just snooping around. Ferrets are incredibly inquisitive and love to crawl into small places. The first thing they will do when the get out of their cage is to check out the room for anything that is new or different. The one difference in this case (of the case) was that I had removed the drive rack which presented the perfect opening....
haha, i want a ferret. :P

As do I. Hmm... it looks like a great pet. What is the usual life span of a ferret?

Ha. That is great. I don't know if you have one of those Delta fans or what, but that could have been dangerous.

They typically live 5 - 7 years. I'm glad we ended up getting a second one, because they really do have a lot more fun when there's someone else to play/fight with.
Here's a couple of good sources I've posted in the past:
http://www.ferretcentral.org - a good FAQ
http://www.thechipster.com/fert-man.html
The second one is an especially good resource.

From the information on this page (http://ferrets.go.cc/) I'd say that it is true. NYC is another anti-ferret zone.

Some people have cats and ferrets that get along (just like some cats and dogs). But, there are stories of a ferret taking chunks off of some too-aggressive dog's nose. Ferrets aren't real large, but they can be tough!
My two are incredibly gentle toward people. They never bite (except when playing with your socks while you're still wearing them).

Yes... This is quite true. However, many people bring them back after a trip from Las Vegas. My old boss picked up a pair of sugar gliders (another illegal animal to have in California) and one of my friends bought a ferret there as well. They also have various different monkeys you can buy.

Ferrets can be really neat pets. However, PLEASE do your homework before you run out and start buying them. Read the information on the links I gave above and determine if you really want to be a ferret owner (or, as some people say, owned by your ferrets ;) ). "Impulse ferret buying" is probably a big reason why there are many "ferret rescue shelters" throughout the country.
