Hey guys sorry about this question but I am looking for a new cd burner? So I checked out pricewatch.com I came across this brand called "Lite On" its a 40x12x48 EIDE burner for 104$ w/out shipping. Then a buddy of mine tells me that brand names and buffer under run error protection are important when buying a burner, is this true? Has anyone heard anything about "Lite On"? Also, whats the difference between FireWire and EIDE Burners?

Thanks for your time in advance...

Lite-on have received excellent reviews in all places I have read. Definately not a no-name brand anymore.

Lite-on drives are great drives! You won't be disapointed with one. And it does have burn-proof on it so you're safe there.

Actually, Lite-On was around even in the 80's. I remember having several keyboards from them. =) Then they kinda disappeared for several years, finally resurfacing with these CD-RW's.

Lite-On manufactures OEM CD-RWs for other companies such as Hi-Val (my 12x10x32)! It works great and it hasn't failed me yet!
