A nice article that details HardOCP discrepancies. Definitely a must read.

haha. all are very appropriate here...
Its important to know about the influence being curried with these uber websites. In this case, criticism is being blunted of those advertising on such sites and of those who give parts to be reviewed. Meanwhile, those who choose not to give these sites with hardware are disparaged.
Many people go to websites like HardOCP for purchasing information and make no mistake about it, big money is involved here. Viewers should know the partialities that influence what is seen on such a site.
The sites will say its not happening and partisans of such sites will vehemently persist in denying this has been happening. In reality its been going on for a while. All this adds up to something very disturbing indeed-done for views and dollars. This deserves to be brought out in full view of everyone.

I don't know... I guess it comes as no great surprise.
Anytime there's money at stake, the outcome is sure to
be affected. Hardware sites are no different the the media, or politics, or business.
I haven't taken a hardware site review as gospel in years.
I read 'em for the basics on the board, specs, features and that
sort of thing. But opinions? Not a chance that I'd take those seriously. I've seen so many things I've been pleased with get lousy reviews, and so many things I hated get good reviews that what the reviewer thinks really means nothing to me.

obviously, the guy from paradoxpc probably had some valid points. but it's also pretty obvious that he thinks people should visit his site instead of HardOCP, which makes me think he's not the most objective source in the world :heh:

I can not speak about this issue publicly but I will say this. It is not about getting traffic to PCParadox. PCP has been around longer than HardOCP and we are quite happy with the way traffic is going. If you want to talk about this get me on ICQ or AIM. I have no qualms with explaining myself but it is not about traffic. sbp can attest to that.

Not right now. HardOCP is desperately trying to get material together for a lawsuit. I have no interest to provide him with any information.

I think that falls into the 'fair enough' catagory!

I beleive I discussed this a long time ago :-) One Reviewer's Subjective Look at Reviewers' Objectivity (http://gotapex.com/reviews.php?rev=subjective/index.html)
All hardware sites put out subjective reviews, and if they claim not to they are just plain lying.

That PCP article is stupid in my opinion. All that article seems to be a personal grudge against HardOCP. The points are not very well made and the article is certainly not well written. The article is made out to be something like: "oh you already know that everyone is biased but we're going to just tell you that HardOCP is biased." If we already know, why write an article targeted directly at one website?

UT this is a very touchy subject. There is a very definate reason as to why it's directed at HardOCP. HardOCP has made it their god given right to discredit a large number of websites. Right now I have become fed up with all the lies that HardOCP and their staff has put out and all the sites and companies that have had problems because of HardOCP. I am taking a stand for those that have been abused by him and for the companies that he has so often attacked for being immoral. This is not some stupid little one time publicity stunt this is something that has a definate start and end and the end won't come till HardOCP has been exposed for what it truly is.

I have read your "article" Wizard and I must say that it lacks any credible sources. Therefore it offers no validity to the argument that any given site, in this case HardOCP, is guilty of anything. The lack of credible 3rd party sources builds the case that you are exercising red herring logic. What you are doing is nothing short of slander and rumor mongering. Now I respect that you may have an bone to pick with HardOCP, but you are only further contributing to why internet-based publications are not lent the same influence as paper publications. That reason being that you are the living illustration that anyone with an opinion can attack an institution, person, or business with unsubstantiated rhetoric. Should you provide concrete evidence that HardOCP and or other hardware sites are guilty of something more then expressing their subjective opinion, then, and only then will your article be recognized as valid. Right now it is nothing but a malice rumor.
