I know that I'm a member of a tiny minority when I say this, but I don't pirate anything. Not music, not software, not movies, nothing. I've also learned that there's no real reason to preach about it, since there's really nothing I can say that will change any minds anyway.

However, I am not above having a little fun at the expense of those who would advocate piracy. I've got a little idea, and I'd like some feedback.

LPMiller posted an article from Games Fusion that, he felt, game very close to advocating piracy. I agree, so I came up with a fun way to make them understand what piracy can do to a business. I plan to copy the html from the majority of the pages on their site, and proceed to set up a "copy" of their site on another server, except without the annoying popups or banners. I'll keep it updated with each new article they post, just for the hell of it.

Let me know what you think. I think it'll be fun and maybe teach a quick lesson or two.

Well, the difference between what you did is that it's really easy to trace. In a matter of minutes, people can find out where you live and send the Po-po. If I copy a CD and give it to a person, who's to know where the CD came from, and even that the "crime" was committed?

That wont teach anyone anthing. YOu're doing all you can/should by buying the stuff.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Mind you, I haven't actually done anything yet. Also, I figure that as long as I keep it humorous and on the lighter side, no one should get to terribly offended and I won't have to worry about prosecution. I just want to make a point, that's all.

I think it would be pretty dang funny. As long as it's not on one of my severs, that is....
