This afternoon, I received a package from a relative in Massachussets. It contained some of the most delish italian yummies you'd ever want to encounter..besides Homemade Canoli shells,Apricot Cookies and about 4 pounds of Lupini beans, she sent me two jars of Antonio's roasted Fava and Ceci nuts. I have sat here and devoured almost the entire jar. Has anyone else ever had these roasted nuts? And while Lupini beans are not my favorite-I'm sure they won't last long in this house-what kind of ethnic snacks do you ever have a craving for?

she only sent me the SHELLS...I make my own filling. I made the mistake of letting a sister-in-law borrow my canoli tubes and she never returned them so now I don't have anything to fry the dough on. I'm having a hard time finding the tubes where I am..my friend was kind enough to send me some of her shells that she made last weekend. (She makes the best) :) Friends like this are good to have-no?

Pocky is okay I guess. I'm not much of a sweets person. Shrimp chips, there is this Thai brand that I tried, tastes great. Its in a tin can, about 10 or so inches tall. It costs bout 1.50 or so. A lil spicy. Very addicting, some of the best I've tasted.. and I've tasted TONS!

edit: they also have ones that taste like crab! although i can't really tell the difference :P

that sounds familiar. even if i haven't had it, i'd crave it anyway. i just crave beer in general (for the taste, i never get drunk), so that would fit the bill just right.

what's "absinth?" never heard of it.

i used to get drunk back in high school, but it think it's kinda lame now. not my thing, you know? i like the taste of beer and that's why i drink it. conversely, i don't like the taste of the hard stuff, so i avoid it.

If you ever saw Moulin Rouge, this is the green drink they would alwys drink. Supposedly, it can make you hallucinate. I suppose Oscar WIlde put it best... He said, "If you drink enough of this stuff, it will make you see things... beautiful things."

My brother bought my sister and I both bottles of Absinthe for Christmas last year. It tastes like black licorice, so you either like it or don't. It does give you a wierd buzz, but none of us reported any hallucinations. You can't really knock it back as it does have a really strong after taste.

Back to the subject of ethnic foods- I am so thankful to live in San Diego where I am close to Ranch Market and La Tiendita and several dozen other ethnic specialty stores. Snack central!

The Jello Lychee fad is over. man... and I just bought a tub. :P
Seriously though... love that stuff. Don't like any of the other flavors though...

Oh... one good snack food... although few I know agree with me is Durian. It's that soft yellow thing that smells awful but tastes very yummy.:munch:

Durian is a VERY acquired taste. Some people have said that it smells something to the equivalent of raw sewage.

I once saw a logo, either on a candy wrapper, or on a tag on the fruit itself: "Smells like hell, tastes like heaven." Sums it up pretty well. :heh:

Hite is like carbonated barley tea. But I guess it's pretty good, I like Coor's banquet myself over any Korean beers.

OB Lager commercials are great, but then it's not as if any of you have seen them.

Coors? someone please help them man....
as for Korean beers, they taste best, to me, with Korean food. it give a completeness to the meal, but i don't drink them on their own. when i buy beer, i buy the good stuff that i love.

and yeah, i've never seen the comercials.
