I am trying to install, or rather have installed a Voodoo 5 5500 video card into my Athlon 800 Windows 2000 system. It is detected in start-up, the driver voodoo 4/5 appears in system info, the onboard video card that came on the motherboard (is not removable) has been disaled and appears no where system or hardware info. However, after startup and windows loads, the monitor turns itself off. The computer starts and runs in Safe Mode and Safe Mode VGA enabled, and sometimes runs after "last known good configuration" but not always. Many times i could not get the drivers to install, but most recently the lastest win2000 3dfx voodoo4/5 driver did install (version 1.03). My question is, how can i get this video card to run? It works with 256 colors in safe mode, but does not run over that or 600X800. I need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well first off in safe mode its driver free so in a sense the video card ain't doing its job there. Anyhow make sure you do these things, the original display adapter you had is completely removed. Then try reinstalling the drivers again. If you still have the same problems. . . there's always the common windows solution of reformating. I don't want to say I'm right but I thought I heard somewhere that people were having conflict problems with AMD chips and Voodoo cards. Maybe I'm wrong though.

This site has some drivers that may help you.

I used some third-party drivers with my Voodoo 4500 and Windows XP. Before I got the drivers, I couldn't run a lot of my games.
