Need advice on Direct Tv & Tivo, please.

I am having MAJOR trouble with my vcr and recording stuff. Using new tapes, after 3 or 4 times recording, the vcr craps out and the tape is almost unwatchable. Lines, flipping, constant scratching noise (like scratching a record - Dopey, have you been in my house??), etc.

Our ****ing cable company is getting ready to raise its rates AGAIN. I am SERIOUSLY considering getting a DirectTv/Tivo combo.

I need opinions from people who are using (or did use) DirectTv and anyone who is (or did use) Tivo. PLEASE! :)

I don't have TIVO but I do have DirecTV, and I love it. I was shocked when they switched it over - looked like all the channels were DVDs. I actually pay a couple bux less per month than my old crappy cable. I've had it for almost a year now and never had an outage or picture problem or any other problems for that matter.

Jenny..... go for the DirectTV UltimateTV combo. Or if you can wait a year or so you can get the Moxi system (very nice)
