Three words: oh...my...god! This is going to be one of the sweetest games to come out this year, and I'd urge everyone here to give it a try. Just one look at the new Trailer movie and you'll be wanting more, especially with the high quality experience that was the original Jedi Knight.

EBGames has a great deal, 49.99 plus free two-day shipping or overnight for 3.99 (and you get a t-shirt, in case you really, really want to tell the world just how much of a geek you are).

Guess what folks? Fairlight has released this game yesterday  and I shall finish getting it tonight. I'll post my initial impressions as soon as I can tear myself away from it.

I wasn't bragging, I was just saying. You can't convey emotion by typing, and if it came out that way its because I'm really really looking foward to this game.

No no, I wasn't offended by your words, but I was offended by the realization that the reason you were able to pick up JK2 early was because you pirated it. I've said before that I will not preach to people about piracy because no one seems to care, but it really is stupid when people pirate games that they themselves rave about and drool over. I can almost understand pirating a game that you don't feel to be worth 49.99, but when a company comes out with a great game, let's give them their due so that they'll continue to do so.

Cantacuzene

I don't pirate every game that comes along. Dungeon Siege I am going to buy, because its great multiplayer and the company making it is new and needs money.

Jedi Knight is single player and I will beat it in 3 days of on and off playing. Its not worth the same to me as Dungeon Siege or Moh or Wolfenstien. Both Dungeon Siege and Jedi Knight cost $50.

I'm fully aware stealing is stealing is stealing and you know what? I bought some games the other day at Gamestop and they totally sucked ass, and since I opened them I cant return them: I was stolen from. My PS2 broke after I owned it for a few months, sony owes me 300$. I bought cds that had one good song on them, They stole 14$ from me.

I am more than willing to pay for quality. Not having multiplayer makes this game only half a game. I'd be more than willing to pay $25 for this game especially if it was on sale today.

Where does the whole thing about JK2 not having multiplayer come from? Unless something changed in the last day or so, I had read that it had full mp support. In fact, the trailer on their site (the new one of course) even has clips from multiplayer games. There have been entire articles on Gamespot written about he different mulitplayer modes in JK2 (i.e. capture the ysalimiri).

As for being stolen from, I'd agree with you except that you had the option not to but all of those things you listed. Buying a CD for one song is rarely a good idea, and you take a chance with any kind of entertainment you buy that you have never seen or tried. For example, you have no way of knowing if the new car you buy will be good or not in the long run; you can only base your decision off the opinions of others and the short test drive you yourself took (and playing a game completely though doesn't count as a test drive :P ). The fact that the car did or did not work out for you doesn't mean it's cool to steal your neighbor's.

As for the PS2, I would think that it's still covered under the Sony warranty. Most of their stuff, excluding digital cameras, has a 12 month parts and labor warranty.

Cantacuzene
03-25-2002, 07:17 PM
PS2 has a 90 day warranty. Shows how much Sony stands behind its product.

I didn't post this to start an arguement on warez so lets drop it please.

No problem man, my bad. I went back on my own word :D . After all, what's really important is what we all have in common: we think JK2 will be sweet.

By the way, you didn't answer my question about multiplayer. Does it really not have it?

Cantacuzene
03-25-2002, 09:58 PM
I hadn't heard anything about the multiplayer though that doesn't mean much, it could very well have it. Regardless, they aren't emphasizing it in their promotion so I imagine it will be so good I'll want to uninstall MOH:aa.

Since you bought sucky games, sell the games then. Ever hear of reviews?

Even if the game was $15, warez monkies wouldn't pay for it. Why pay $15 when it can be gotten for free.

Right now at EBGames it's just $39.99 shipped free without the shirt. I think it's a better deal, since I never wear video game shirts. I still have my FF7 shirt from years ago...

I already said I don't want to argue about it, not on this thread anyway. I think the last thread we had in offtopic about warez covered all the bases nicely so go take out your anger on someone else if it what you need to do to feel better about yourself.

Yeah, my bad, it is 39.99 with the t-shirt (if you bought it last week). 49.99 was for the "special edition" tin that includes the original Jedi Knight and the Dark Forces expansion pack. My bad, my error.

Yep. I completely love the old LA games. Tie Fighter, X-Wing, Jedi Knight, Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith. I would really really like to see another X-Wing/Tie Fighter. I spent soo many hours on that game.

Well, I can just be content with another Jedi Knight.

You can be sure, LucasArts will try to track down who leaked the game because they've kept such tight security on it. Not even Activision employees who worked on the game are getting copies of it. (It is common practice that all who are listed in the credits gets a copy)

The game has only left QA for less than 2 weeks. You can bet someone's gonna get a fat lawsuit on their hands once Lucas finds them.

BTW, I was fortunate enough to have participated in the multiplayer testing. 30 players on a LAN. Sickness, just pure sickness. Hope you all enjoy the game.

after playing it for about 45 minutes here are my initial impressions.

1. The graphics are a bit less than wolfenstien and moh. I'd say he graphics are equal to a really really good Red Faction rather than MOH, which uses the same engine.

2. The game is very puzzly. You have to find shapes/codes to open doors to get to the next area. I don't know if this is good or bad, it all depends on what you like and what you were expecting.

3. The Storm trooper death animations rock, but one problem is that it takes a few shots to kill them and the first shots dont seem ti visibly effect them, but the shot that kills them sends them into a flying death animation.

4. This will be fun, once i get force powers and a lightsaber...

Just picked it up and im liking it a lot.
Frys had the collectors tin with two previous games and a neat lightsabre keychain for $60. The regular edition cost just over $35.xx so i got 2 instead. One copy per visit so i went to 2 different registers :P.

Jedi Knight II is very cool ...

the graphics are pretty solid .. maybe MoH is a tad better .. could be .. opinions differ ..

and yes ... the game is pretty puzzly ... which in my opinion is VERY good ... you can shoot and blast away .. pure carnage .. seeing them flip through the air with the kill shot is brilliant to watch .. but the search for clues, puzzles and access codes adds to the game ... and certain routes are pretty hard to figure out ... so its not easy at all ...

the lightsabre rocks ... u can chop off arms and when you change from first person view to 3th person the light sabre effect really rocks ..

I finally beat Jedi single player. It was a bit more puzzly than I care for, but it was a welcome change from playing moh and wolfenstien before this.

I just uh...acquired the game yesterday. It's pretty decent. It's fun but not like the coolest game ever...so far. I do like that it's a little bit more though provoking than other FPS though. What I don't like is that the hit boxes for the game seem to be messed up. My stupid lasers always miss, oh well.

Some weapons are inaccurate. If you get if iff a storm trooper, it aint gonna fire straight.

When I started playing, I really didn't like it that much. All that changed when you get your lightsaber.

I think the best level in the game is Cloud City, because there are no puzzles, just insanely fun lightsaber combat. It was definitly the only single player level ill go back and play again.

played online and kept getting killed. me sux i think. if you find a sever that has team combat with or w/out jedi powers you'll get an idea of how fun it can be. Jump-attacking with a lightsabre is something to be seen. I havent solo'd it yet, no time, but game seems worth it just for the multi player.

Recommendation: master the back-stab. That move is the absolute god of JK2 once you get the timing down. It's a guaranteed kill if you connect, and for some reason they never see it coming (this works almost as well in multiplayer).

On a side note, there aren't a whole lot of things I've done in any game that are more fun then yanking four stormtroopers off of an overhead walkway using force pull. Man this game is great.

How would this game perform on my system at 1024x768 ?

Also, is this is the kind of game that I'll finish quickly, because I see the point of one of the eariler posters - you get a lot more gaming *time* for your dollar with an RPG.

BTW: I loved both Dark Forces and Jedi Knight. I played through the first one twice, and JK three times (each time with a different video board)
