I need a little help figuring this one out...

I run Win2000 and the yesterday I started getting this error message (Inaccessible_boot_devise)when I attempt to boot the system. Don't really know what caused it. I did change the cables in my computer (tried going back to the originals) but nothing really major. Here's where it gets a little odd. When the problem started I reached into my desk to grab a spare hard drive that has WindowsME on it and swapped it into the system and it booted just fine. So, sounds like the hard drive crapped out right? That's what I thought. But not so fast. In order to attempt to retrieve data from my original drive I needed to put Windows2000 on my spare drive so that I could access the NTFS file system. As soon as I put Win2000 on the spare drive and attempted to boot the system it started giving the message "Inaccessible_boot_devise"

So now I'm starting to think that there is a problem with my hard drive controller, which would really suck because it is on the motherboard. Is there something different about the way Win2000 runs over WinME that would cause this type of problem.

Oh, I get the error message and subsequent blue screen AFTER getting to the Windows is starting up splash screen.

Any insight here would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you got the jumpers on each drive set correctly and alos check your bios for the correct order of booting devices.
