So here is the scoop. I found out that port 3389 is the magic port to make remote assistance happy. I set the router up like this:
1. 192. 168. 2.1 3389(private port) TCP(checked) public port 3389
I then had my father do the same on his SMC router (same model I have). When he tries to ask for remote assistance it comes back with unable to resolve host name. What's the deal? He is on Cox.net...have they changed configurations drastically to prevent remote assistance or is there another port I am missing?.....HELP!!
