My computer will not always start up when i hit the power button. I checked the wires from the button to the motherboard and they look secure. The power supply is only one year old. The power supply does work because the computer will startup usually after I unplug it and flip the I/O switch on the power supply a couple times. Is the problem with the powersupply or the motherboard not reading the button press? Thanks.

might actually be a BIOS problem - you can sometimes fix this jumping the CMOS.

But, more likely the power supply is overheating a little while in operation, so that when it shuts down, it requires resetting - hence the need to flip the switch. So if the CMOS doesn't fix it, start looking for a new PS.
