Got this email from yahoo about the beginning of this week, they want you to start paying for their pop3 and smtp access unless you go through their website and access their email.... damn them...

basically... you ahve to pay for their premuium plan for outlook/express access. They will still let you have web access, although no remote access.. :bawl:

i agree outlook is easier, but i am at college (psu) with 40000+ people. so that auto open crap that outlook does is always giving people viruses around here, so i just check it on the website (for the obvious virus reasons). but that does suck that they are chraging for it now!

Heh.. scared me for a sec there. I always use the web-based yahoo mail to check my pop3 isp email.. that would suck if they started charging for that too!

im guessing they aren't making enough money from the ads, since lots of ppl use outlook to view the stuff

I mean I can understand times are hard, for these dot commie bastiges and all, but like 20 bux ain't worth what little they are giving. I mean, i'm always cheap, and your right, I'm not going to pay for something that used to be free, unless it's totally worth it. Now they want to give me everything i used to do, plus the higher limit, and like some other subscription based features (i'll guess and say maybe the personal ads, no pop-ups, higher geocities traffic, etc. etc.) then you know it may well be worth the money.. but all i'm getting is higher file trasnfer rate, and the remote access... pffft

so are you going to switch to another email service that'll let you use a Outlook? or are you going to just check your mail using the web-based service?

just gonna use it until I have no reason to. Hence why I still have and use my hotmail account. it just won't get checked as often, since it's more diffucult for me to get to...

I'm in the same boat..
got a couple yahoo accounts, and outlook was really convenient.

now, I can't even forward mail to a different account - same pay junks..
:(

gonna get my own domain soon, and just set up a pop account with that - but i just gotta change my e-mail address...or somethin with all my buddies so that they know not to send it to my yahoo account anymore..
stinkin pain

Hotmail still connects to the site through outlook, not as easy as a pop3 server....
