Before your minds think of what this means, I'll set you straight. I'm cleaning out my second bedroom, which has been a storage area for over 5 years. I'd throw things into there, close the door, and then they would no longer exist.

I have a box one of my computers came in. I'm trying to put the styroform and everything else that came out of the box back into the box. Why won't it fit? I know all of this came out of the box, what happened in between the time I removed it until now? Have the parts mysteriously morphed into new shapes?

My garage is full of smaller boxes within larger boxes. Most of the boxes are from computer related products (of course). It's like those Russian dolls, one within another. I rarely throw any box away, I never know if I'll need it again. I just wish there was an easier way to store them in a smaller space. I'd like to be able to use the garage for it's intended use, for the car. It's almost like I need a two car garage for one car and stuff.

:eek3:

How in the world did you move around in the military?? And get rid of the boxes. Let them go. You don't need them.

Donnie does the same thing. He keeps boxes for EVERYTHING from computer parts to small appliances. I let him put them away, then about a week later, I throw them out UNLESS the papers says void w/o original box.

I never had a problem moving since I never came close to my weight allowance. It meant I tended to keep things that should've been tossed out a long time ago. I'm on a massive cleaning/schredding kick now since I let it go on for this long. I found old checks from 1985 in some of my piles of papers.

I also recently realized that this is the longest I have ever lived at one physical address. I guess I'll have to get used to not moving, unless I want to. It feels odd, I got used to moving every three years (or less).

i save practically all my boxes and packing materials too, which is bad, b/c i don't have that much space in my apt.

but i know i'll be moving soon and so i will have everything ready to go....just pop it in the boxes and i can take off :)

Everything fits somewhere, it's just a matter of finding out where.

I just threw out an old VCR (about 11-12 years old) that had a problem with randomly fast forwarding the tape, a POS Packard Bell 486DX2/66 computer (with the CDROM off the sound card), and a generic 486DX2/66 computer. The last computer is what really got me started on the upgrade to bigger and better computers.

I then got in order:
Cyrix MII300
AMD K62/450 and K62/500
Celeron 300A 400, and 500
AMD Duron 750 and Thunderbird 1.3

I have an original IBM XT computer that I'm keeping because it still works, and it's nice to have around to remind me how far computers have progressed.

It's hard to throw out old computers and parts. I did strip out all the screws and jumpers. You can never have too many parts.
