ick....one of my friends just had all her wisdom teeth taken out...she was so out of it poor girl...I felt so sorry for her!
I remember when I girlfriend got her wisdom teeth taken out. She call me to talk to me a bit...but she was so out of it she really couldn't talk. So we said our goodbyes....but then she called back ten minutes later to ask if she had called earlier! It was so funny!
I hope you feel better soon sho.gun!

I remember that my swelling dropped almost immediately once I got my stitches removed. So, hang in there for a few days, and things will get better.

Isn't it annoying when you get food stuck up where you teeth used to be?? Oy...drove me nuts until it healed back up. Do they have the stitches that self-dissolve or you have to go back and have removed? My dissolved but that was annoying also...it's like having floss in your mouth that you can't just yank out.
I hope you have a sweetheart gf to take care of you. My gf took care of me. It was was sweet and strange at the same time. We just met a few weeks ago and she bought dozens of cans of chicken noodle soup, boxes of guaze, and lot's of those snack-paks of apple sauce, mandarin oranges etc... A lil overboard I'd say...I still have packs of apple sauce left over.
Anyways...brush a lot back there. :)

i had to get my wisdom teeth removed on two separate occasions. getting the lower ones removed was a lot worse than the top ones swelling wise. i was still swolen three days later, and because of that, i talked kind of funny. i went to the drug store to get some prescriptions for my mom, and the pharmacist treated me like i was retarded. i wanted to smack him!
i spent new years eve 1999/2000 on my parents couch, totally out of it on percocet. that was an interesting night. oh, and when medications say take with food, cran-mango juice does not count as food. it took me quite a while before i could drink it again.

Ahahahaha :heh:
how appropriate :)
Anyway, I look really funny because my left cheek is swollen twice as big as the right one. I ate jello this morning and some of it got around the excavation site, well I think it did. So now I have this gooey jello-like stuff near the wound and I'm not sure if it's jello or... meat. I want to just scoop it out with my tongue or something, but what if it's my gums, aaargh! And the bottom left is still bleeding :( I hate this.

Been there, done that. Had mine out at Xmas time. Swollen like a chipmunk one one side for a week. And the hole in your gums thing... man, mine still hasnt healed. I usually have to bust out a broken toothpick and dig aroudn back there to get stuff out after eating. It's very annoying to me at least to have something back there and not be able to get it out. I swear, it feels liek i can stuff a whoel meal behind one tooth now. Friend of mine said her Doc gave he ra small water squirter to get stuff out... wish i had one of those :bawl:

Hope you feel better soon!
When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, it was on the Friday before Easter. I got home to hear an answering machine message telling me I'd won a complete Easter dinner for 12 from my local supermarket. I got to sit and watch everyone else eat while I held my aching jaw and popped pain pills. That was not fun.

I think that gooey stuff is a mixture of clotted blood and gums. I can feel the thread from the stitches with my tongue.
irish, I think they're called a water pik, you can buy one at walmart or something.
edit: what did i do... i just quoted myself or something.

Don't use a waterpic for a while. What they sometimes give you is a kind of syringe to flush things out of the pockets - much gentler stream than a waterpic generates.

Bah, I had a complication with mine where it was so impacted they couldn't get it all 100% out - still a slight part of the root left in. Then it got infected a coupla weeks later. It took about 6 months for my mouth to feel normal and that "I have something caught in my teeth" feeling to go away.

hehehe...you haven't noticed any blood drained animals on your lawn have you? I'm sure you sleep all day and after taking your medicine you can't remember anything that happened the night before. http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/Smilies_klein/vamp.gifhttp://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/Smilies_klein/vampire.gif

Well the bleeding has finally *almost* stopped. It's been a good 4 days now but there's still some blood leakage going on. Last night I had this horrible throbbing pain that just flashed continually on the left side of my mouth. I'm guessing something's up with my nerves, but I took some vicodin and in 40 minutes I was gone ZzzzZZ...
This morning my swelling is still up and about, I still look like Quagmire, but I think it's coming down. I now have lovely blue spots, bruises around my jaw. I ate at Taco Bell today though, had a soft taco and a 7 layer burrito, could barely chew them so I just sucked and sucked and played with it with my tongue...
