View Full Version : What to get an elderly neighbor?

We have a lady in a neighboring condo (in another building, but facing ours. She's oh, somewhere in her 70's, I am guessing... She is the sweetest thing, gave Josh lots of candy when he went trick-or-treating there, gave us a plateful of cookies and candy & stuff at Christmas.
Anyway, we just got home a few minutes ago and she came outside as Josh was going up the stairs and called him over to her. When he went over, she handed him a chocolate bunny of some sort and said Happy Easter. Then she gave him a hug and said she loved him and he (I was surprised!) didn't fight it and said I love you, back. (He's weird that way. lol)
We would like to give her something for Easter. A card and something else. I thought a plant (like a lily) or something. But I don't know... What do you all think?

A lily would be nice Jenny. Stop by walmart in the craft dept and let Josh pick out some pom poms and pipe cleaner and let him make something. Audie and Mikey have been making things from the kits they have there. Found a couple for $1.96 that makes like 8 turtles and 8 ducks or bunnys and ducks. (this way he can make something for her and then take them to church on Sunday for others too.

Mikey did that for his Uncle TJ for his birthday. He made two cars and a stop light :)

How about a box of "Oops I crapped my pants"? :)
I'm sorry that's mean but I just saw the skit the other night on SNL. Those old people were great.
Seriously I love old people. On my block there are a bunch of old timers that have lived on the block for like 50 years. They are all a bunch of eccentrics, but all fun to talk to. Whenever they hang out together they kinda look like a gang.
Back to the subject, why don't you make her some cheap picture frames or something? Old folks love putting up pictures of the grandkids and what not, and so you know they can always use a coupla nice frames.

A lily would be a great idea with a card. She seems really sweet. :D

i dig the lilly idea. most people love getting flowers, and if you get her a potted one, she could keep it around too :)
you're sweet to want to do that for your neighbor. i don't even know who my neighbors are (except for the ones who live below me who i have to fuss at about their pounding bass at 2 am).
