I just got a network card, netgear fa312, installed, its on my 1.4Ghz atholn, xp pro, audigy, pioneer dvd, elsa gf3,, 30GB and 60GB maxtor drives. Since I put the network card in the whole computer has gone insane. When I boot now, the time its taken to boot has increased by about 1-3 minutes(variable), and the bios now wouldn't detect my 60GB hard drive. When I took the network card out it still wouldn't detect, and then everything started to fail. I have a k7S5a mobo and i have been switching the network card and audigy throughout the PCI slots in all combinations, in case it was irq trouble(i have heard this is a problem with my mobo). Still won't work, I'm totally baffled as to why, PSU not enough for all this, 300W AMD approved??? Is it irq's??? I am having problems even booting windows now!!! It will now work and boot into windows, with the audigy, network card and gf3, but I have my DVD unplugged(it kept accessing instead of booting to windows???) and the 2nd hard drive still won't detect!!!
If anyone thinks this sounds like a psu problem or a irq problem, or just network card irritating my computer. But when i took it out some things still don't work???
I dunno,

Make sure the jumpers on your Hard Drives are set to master and slave. Also make sure all the cables are conected properly and that the hard drives are on ide 1 and the cd roms are on Ide 2. If that doesnt work then your 2nd HD is broken and you will be able to send it to maxtor with a shiping charge and they will send you back a new one within 2 weaks.

Just wanted to comment on this. Many of the CDR softwares do not want to see both CD drives on the same IDE channel (if you are copying from CD to CD). I keep my CDR on a different channel from my CD drive.

its possible that you shorted something. try taking out every component except for your primary HD and see what happens then.
