Teens Bare All for School Magazine

March 28, 2002 08:59 AM ET

PARIS (Reuters) - Students at one of France's best-known schools shot to notoriety by posing naked for the cover of their student magazine, their modesty protected only by bits of removable opaque tape stuck to the photograph.

The photo of the five teenaged girls and boys at the prestigious Henri-IV lycee caused a stir that extended beyond the 200-year-old school, the daily newspaper Liberation said on Wednesday.

Many of France's elite, including former President Georges Pompidou as a teacher, passed through the prestigious institution's doors.

School head Patrice Corre was quoted as saying parents, teachers and students had complained about the front cover. The newspaper said publication of the magazine, the "Ravaillac," had been suspended.

The students, all in their last years at the school, had posed for an edition dealing with sex, prostitution, homophobia and pornography.

Fearing disciplinary action by the school board, the students involved have sought legal advice from a federation that groups together school magazines, Liberation said.

"If this magazine is a problem, its a problem for the adults, not the young," Liberation quoted lawyer Alain Weber as saying.

The school could not immediately be reached for comment.

Ok, now, this is just my educated guess, so take it as you will:

"The students, all in their last years at the school" Most European (if not all?) go to year 13, not 12 like in the US. Which would make those students 19, right? Or thereabouts? So.... Ok, young, yes. Jailbait, no... Not even truly disgusting. Just young. :)

The reason I thought about it like that is that nowhere did it mention child pornography, which they would have had the students been younger... I think. lol
