Anyone ever pull (or want to pull) a prank on your cow-orkers? Any good stories out there? Just looking for a little bit of inspiration.
going to work and waving a gun around shouting insults and profanities is no longer considered funny. just a tip.

I used to be a wacky morning radio disk jockey, so every April Fools day it was expected that I would do something.
One year we ran "public service announcements" saying the phone company was going to be cleaning the phone lines. They would clean the line by applying high-pressure air to the lines at the telephone office. We told the listeners they may notice some dust coming out of their phones, so to keep their homes clean, they should place their phones in plastic bags. We actually had people calling asking if this also applied to cordless phones. The local telco got kind of pissed at us. BTW, if you've heard this before, it's because it's a very old joke.
Another year we read an announcment from the local newspaper apologizing for an error in printing the paper. It seems one roll of newsstock was placed in backwards, so the "grain" of the paper was running the wrong way. You could tell if the grain was wrong by rubbing the paper with your fingertips. If ink came off on your fingers, you should call the newspaper so they can tell how many "bad" papers were delivered. Of course, if you rub any newspaper between your fingers, the ink comes off.
Once we ran announcements on the day before, saying that the engineering staff would be making adjustments to our transmitter, so the listener may notice a slight bit of distortion in our voices. Then we did the whole 7:00 hour breathing helium. I had a killer headache afterwards.

hahahaha That was great! I don't usually pull pranks, cause I'm just not good at that sort of thing. But I love to read about others doing things like this. :)

 That one is hilarious! Kinda sucks about the headache, but that would be hilarious to hear.
In L.A. the local station I listen to, KROQ, usually does something for April Fool's day. One year they actually became another station that had folded 5 years before (Pirate Radio) - they had the same DJs, promos, music (head-banging Rock'n'Roll), etc.

Why not just use the radio's filters to change your pitch? You can't tell me theres no hardware there to tweek your voice with.

Yeah, we had a device called a "harmonizer" that could change the pitch of your voice. We used that during the morning show once when a study showed women were more attracted to men with low voices. We did about an hour of the show with ridiculously low voices.
Anyway, the whole joke with the helium thing was that you could *hear* us breathing in the helium every couple minutes. You could hear us passing the canister around, turning the valve and sucking it in. Get it? The listeners were in on the joke, but we were acting like they weren't. Maybe you just had to be there.
