View Full Version : Improper Shutdown of Secondary HDD Detected

Every single time I turn on my comp, it will try and go through a thorough scandisk of my secondary hard drive, citing an "improper shutdown," although the computer had been PROPERLY shut down (no BSoD's, I swear!).

I've run all sorts of diagnostics on it, and they all come out clean, but I haven't had the chance to run a thorough scandisk, which would take about 6 hours. I tried to let that process run overnight, but the comp crashed about halfway through. :(

This has been going on for about a week. TIA for any ideas or suggestions!

looks like windows just wont let you go on without running scandisk. What OS are you running?

/me ducks.

EDIT: Don't tell me to update the OS. I've been running WinME just fine ( ), so that's not the issue. So :P.

Okay, I didn't want to resort to this dirty trick, but :bawl:

Any more ideas? :P

ok, i doubt this will help, but try removing the hard drive, booting up, shuting down, installing the hard drive again. If that doesn't work you could reinstall WinMe over itself, usually fixes OS problems for me.
