she's on my buddy list. i used to give her rides home from work. she's been online the past few days, and i wanted to see how things are going where she's working. (she has a bf, so that's not it at all, wiseguy)

so anyways, i been wanting to message her for a while, but i forgot her name.

does this happen to y'all?

Yes! I mod a message board at Ivillage, and I have to keep track of about 50 different people. I finally had to make a cheat sheet for the differnt IM names.

just send her an im and say "hey, how's it going?"

you don't have to know her name to do that. and eventually, while talking to her, you might suddenly think of it.

otherwise, make up a nickname for her....tell her it's your way of making her special and differentiated from all the other people on your list :P

i tried the cheat sheet thing, worked wonders until i lost the sheet.. another thing that i have found extremely helpful is that.. on AIM, you can save notes on the person's screen name.. so if you move your mouse over the person's SN on your buddy list, you can see it.. i store phone #'s, and names.. of course if they aren't online, i dont know how u'd access it.. =)
