how do you prove it was purchased at outpost if you buy at the other place...

There is only one problem with that, the drive at outpost is the retail vesion, and the one that you want to price match at PC Buyers Club is a white box version

WD800BBRTL at Outpost
WD800BB at PcBuyersClub

The "RTL" means Retail. This pricematch will be denied.

You're not buying it from PC Buyer Club, you're pricematching to them.

Maybe this thread is a bit confusing to a couple of people.

This thread HERE (http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.cfm?start=0&catid=18&threadid=78289) will explain it to you better.

You simply buy the hard drive from Outpost.com,
You print out the rebate that is only offered to customers who buy the drive from Outpost.com, you call AMEX to PR the price against PC Buyer Club (which is selling the retail version), and that's it.

$199.95 - $86.95 PR - $75 MIR = $38 + shipping

Well getting a receipt from Outpost.com won't be that hard considering you're ordering from them.

Am I stoopid? First, Outpost.com has a link to a rebate that is expired. Then, the other rebate links posted say that you have to buy the drive at OUTPUT.COMMAND or OUTPUT.COM, not OutpOSt.com. Are those one and the same?

different sites entirely. Very wierd. The rebate is printed incorrectly...could be a sticky situation...

If you use the rebate links you get a rebate coupon with a bad name (Output.command) and if you use the link on outpost's page, you get a link that expired a month ago.

Fry's won't take AMEX cards so no pricematch there!

Some guy at TechBargains said the OutPost CSR admitted that the rebate posted was incorrect (uhuh) and that the OutPUT.com was a typo. She guaranteed him he would get the rebate. All the same, I'm sitting this one out.

Check your packaging, some have gotten refurbed drives.

That's why I didn't buy the drive! ANyway I have no $$$ for the drive since I have to save $$$ for my new traffic ticket! I just returned a 80GB Seagate 'Cuda IV to Fry's today!
