Ha ha - reminds me of a funny story -
I gave an old PC of mine to my Aunt. She called me a few weeks later complaining that one of the keys on the keyboard didn't work anymore. I asked her if anything happened to it, and she told me that it looked pretty dirty so she washed it.
What did she wash it with, I wondered?
Yup - she put it in the dishwasher. And only one key stopped working... gotta love those old IBM keyboards. You could kill a wild boar with them, pop them into the dishwasher, and then type an e-mail to your grandmother.

Hah! Does she put all her electronics in the dishwasher when they are dirty?
This happened to me one time. One key didn't work.

When you take the A+ certification test they ask you how to clean a keyboard. The dish washer is the correct answer, you just have to make sure its fully dry before using it again. As for th mouse they say to use a small amount of liquid soap.

hallelujah, my keyboard is working again. I found that a 60W desk lamp worked alot better than a hairdryer. maybe i didn't dry the right side of my keyboard enough, but my up & down keys and 4,5,6 on the numpad don't work :( If only it was the tilde key that wouldn't work...

Completly, Ask any A+ Cerrtified person, or check out one of the books. They said to put it in the dish washer and then let it dry out.

From experience (when one of my kids dumped a glass of water over on the keyboard) it can take quite a while to get the innards of a keyboard completely dry. The water can get between two plastic sheets and be pretty "protected".

I'm in the process of testing for certification with A+ and they do say the dishwasher is the best answer.

Someone spilled milk on my keybaord a few years back, and my friend told me about washing the keyboard, and it should work again..
so, I took it in the shower with me..
let it dry a couple days..

 maybe you used too much conditioner...
seriously though you need a strong lamp to evaporate the water which took me several days.
