I've heard about this problem on XP. It usually comes down to some driver you've loaded up that isn't behaving correct. I guess start with the ones that aren't certified for XP. From your description, I would start with the network drivers.

yeah happen to me too... not the exact sypmtoms as yours but similar.

It started happening once I updated my computer's video driver over Windows Update. Once I roll back the driver it was back to normal. THe old drive was the most recent version downloaded from Geforce3's website.

Hmm.. go figure. The XP cert driver gave me problems, and the "use at your own risk didnt".

uh...thanks...

i kinda solved my problem, after playing a game i would just let my comp sit for like, 2 min, then after that it'd shut down just fine =)

Wow, this just started happening to me the other day and I was about to post the same question for help.

So how do I figure out which driver is causing the problem and how do I "roll back" that driver?

I'm also running Win 2K Pro and I just installed some software for a new Sony Clie; so that's the most likely culprit; but I don't know how to roll back the drivers...

Thanks for any suggestions!
