Philips Tivo Personal Digital Recorder HDR312 w/30 hr memory for $319, provided you still have Mercata Dollars to blow. HOWEVER, unlike the ReplayTV, this one has a monthly membership fee, which is booty wack. This is the cheapest I've seen the big one for, though, so it's a nice price.

I got to say I bought this and it is the best thing I have ever bought for my TV. Man I love being able to record and reply programs. I never watch commericals anymore, I just want the programs that I program it to record.

Never used anything like it. BTW if you use nextag, you can get it for $315.86 ($333.86 Shipped)from ProActive Electronics. Just make an offer for lower (like $250) and you will get a response of the $315.86. That is who I bought from...very reliable.

If you don't have Mercata dollars left....that is the place to buy from. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Nicemann: A coupla questions about the thing...
Did you just pay the up-front subscription fee, or are you going month by month?
Does it edit out commercials?
Have you hacked it for more storage space? Have you needed to?

Also looks like the Nextag ones end up being more expensive after shipping, too. Lowest I got was $333.

Well at first I paid by months to try it out. After I fell in love with it I just bought lifetime subscription. I didn't mind paying at all because it goes through and updates the program guide and everything else, plus it does software updates.

It doesn't edit out the commericals yet. But it does have 3 speeds of fast forward and rewind. So I don't mind at all. But they say it will be able to "auto-edit" the commericals soon and it will be able to download and install the software automaticaly. As for the storage...the 30 hours is plenty for me. Also I haven't heard of a hack...but there may be one out there.

All in all the tivo is worth the money. (Also I did say it would cost $333 after shipping). http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
