I recently bought "American McGee's Alice" which runs off the Quake 3 engine. Installation went fine, but when I started the game up, I got the following dialogue (kinda long):

Now, I've researched and found several reasons and possible solutions to this problem including: installed updated drivers (duh), messing around with screen resolution and color depth, working with some .dll files, and some other stuff that hasn't yielded any results.

I have an STB Velocity 128 video card running on Windows XP and all system requirements met or exceeded for the game. Granted, the game doesn't support XP, 2K, or NT, so I've also tried running in emulation modes for both Windows 98/ME and 95 to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.

XP doesn't come with native Open GL drivers, so that's part of the problem right there. If you had a newer card, simply installing new drivers would fix the issue.

With the older 128, it's possible the drivers just aren't up to par. If you can find current drivers, try them, but but it might be time to upgrade that card.

I was going to say, is that card even openGL compliant?

Nvidia did release a full OpenGL driver for WIN98 for the Riva128 several months after the videocard was released.

DetonatorsXP don't support this card: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=products_supported_win

The image quality of this card is poor and the performance of this card running a Quake 3 engine game would be poor. Time to upgrade.
