*WARNING* Supposed Bad Batch of Crucial RAM

I just wanted to post this up for everyone because it hits close to home for me. My roommate is experiencing the same problems as in this thread:

However, there isn't any concrete evidence to support this as of yet, but everything seems to point at the Crucial RAM. It seems beyond coincidental that all the problems are occurring at the same time. This leads me to believe the bad batch that was sold is all beginning to fail at roughly the same time.

Oh crap... I've been getting a lot of BSOD like they described lately. Most of the time regarding IRQ equal or not equal thing. I have 2 Crucial 256mb DDR sticks with ECC running on a SOYO Dragon+ though.

Hey Leon, do you think this "bad batch" affects all of Crucial's RAM or is it only the 256mb modules?

Hmm I noticed that those who had problematic RAM was given a replacement by Crucial no questions asked. Has crucial always been that generous or do they know that something's really bad about the RAM?

Crucial's customer service has always been top-notched which is why I'm not screaming bloody murder. ;) I'm not sure about the modules, but it seems like the 256MB ones are quite problematic. I'm getting nervous too. Last night I had my first BSOD on my WinXP Pro box. I have two sticks of Samsung and two sticks of Crucial ECC Registered DDR.

I was getting BSODs all the time a couple months ago. I ended up removing every PCI card and reseating them, but that didn't help. I removed the RAM and noticed that the sockets were very dusty (the case had been off the computer for a while). I blew out the dust, put the RAM back in, and everything's worked good since then.

Cleaning the insides of a computer is something I usually don't think of doing very often.

I think I may be a victim to this!

The other day I kept having random reboots in WinXP, which is odd.

Them my RAM started showing up as goofy amounts.

Now one stick does not register at all. I have swapped slots and tried to boot with only one stick in at a time. Only one will boot.

Guess it's time to RMA the stick.

i'm glad my brother stole my 4 sticks of 256 Crucials and gave me a Kingston 1gb stick :D

....and the winner is Corsair!Corsair uses the same Micron modules as Crucial, I believe. I think crucial just got a bad batch of Micron chips.
