I placed an order on Jcrew.com. I got a confirmation e-mail that the order shipped. Their website even reports it shipped. After 5 business days I did not receive the order.

I finally call customer service and they inform me "Gee, this is weird, all the items you ordered ordered never shipped. They are now out of stock, so we can no longer honor the sales price." They said my only option was to cancel the order.

They wouldn't even give me any coupons or discounts for my inconvience. All they said was we are sorry our web site has problems.

Wow. I would expect this treatment from some no-name website, not from a well-known company like Jcrew.

p.s.- They had the nerve to ask me to print out the webpage and my e-mail confirmation and snail-mail it to them so they could debug their website. Yeah right, I'll be sure to do that.

dont give up! be persistent and call them and tell them you want to speak to a supervisor. persistency usually pays off

Thanks, yes I did talk to a supervisor on that same call. No help from her either. The rediculus part was that they freely admit their website has problems. (So why in the world do they even take web-orders then? )

My order was less than $100 and I picked things that were very a great price so I'm sure they have no incentive to fill my order.

I'm just going to forget about it, it's not worth the aggrevation. I just wanted to share my experience so others will be cautious.

Their motivation is to keep you as a paying customer. You need to call them and remind them what their motivation is. Don't get mad or "aggrivated" just calmly tell them what you are willing to do if they do not fix this as you think they should. If you are willing to report this to sites which support their business, then tell them that. If you are willing to call them up twice a week to remind them they are wrong about this, tell them that. If you are willing to report them to various pro consumer agencies tell them that. Bottom line is you have to hit them where it hurts. Don't give up because giving up would be easy, strive because you are right!

p.s. (see my thread re: urbanq!)

JCrew's site has gotten worse over the last few months. Continue complaining and trust me, you will get somewhere.

pretty much every e-biz in existance has problems fulfilling orders, etc, at least part of the time. is it frustrating? sure it is. i've been pissed off my times than i care to tell by websites screwing up orders, etc.

just hang in there. jcrew is, in general, a great store. because they have a long history in mailorder and b&m stores, they have a lot more motivation to make sure their website operates well. they're not going to just disappear overnight.

on another note, i do not understand why people bitch about the deals that Apex posts. especially in a case like this. they screwed up an order -- big deal. it's not like they charged you and never sent you merchandise and then refused to credit your credit card. just because they make one mistake, it's not really necessary for Apex to quit posting deals from that site. now if they're shady and screwing people over, i think Apex is going to stop posting deals on his own. he doens't want us getting screwed. but he's not going to quit posting from some store just because they make a simple mistake.

My understanding of this forum is to post about websites that suck.

I had a crappy experience with jcrew.com and thought I would share it so other people could benefit. Their problems stem way beyond a simple mistake.

In the future I won't waste my time posting to these forums.

I think it had something to do with Whitak's comment.
I say let him complain, this is the suckage forum after all. He shouldn't be getting lip from anyone in here.

speaking of j crew, look at what www.****edcompany.com has to say about them.
"Rumor has it, as we speak, J. Crew is firing about 20% of their work force, including the CEO. Word is, no raises or bonuses this year, revenue down in a big wya.
When: 4/25/2002
Company: J. Crew
Severity: 55
Points: 155"

well, i realize i kind of went off on him. and maybe i was in the wrong there.

but i must say, this is one of those things that really pisses me off:
people, esp. n00bs, bitching about the way this site is run and trying to tell apex and co. what they should or shouldn't post. i have a great amount of respect for the people who operate this site and i think that they have all of our best interest in mind. consequently, when someone comes in and basically says that because they had one bad experience at an established e-tailer, apex shouldn't post deals for them anymore.

the problem wasn't that big of a deal. sure, it sucks to have orders cancelled. i've griped about that myself. but it wasn't like he got robbed by jcrew. he was inconvenienced by them, and they didn't go out of their way to make him feel good. if it was really such a problem, he should have contacted apex directly instead of going in a public forum and saying "apex please don't post deals for jcrew.com".

i guess to me, it's just a respect issue. maybe i should be nicer, but i also think that if people have such a problem with how this site is run, there are probably other sites that they can explore.
