i have a friend who wants a tv tuner on her laptop. I know a decent amount about desktops, but laptops are foreign to me. Is it basically the same, except laptops have pcmcia slots? Also, if you guys know of any good tv tuners, i'd really appreciate it. Actually, if you know of ANY tv tuners for a laptop, that'd be great. Thanks in advance.:)

you could get a usb tv tuner such as the ati tv wonder usb. ive never seen one myself, but ive heard that they arent the best around. plus you still need to attach an antenna to it or it probably wont pick up all the signals.

Ya, they're not that great because the tv signal takes up more bandwidth than the usb can provide. so it has to compres the images, giving it less quality picture.

also, I saw this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2017766540
it doesn't look that great though.

for a laptop, usb would probably be the least instrusive

Actually, that Nogatech solution isn't too bad from what I've heard from a few users (who owned one). Using the PC Card slot, it's definately not held back as far as bandwidth is concerned.
