I'm a bit out of the loop on these things....

What's a good seek time for a 40gig+ 7200rpm ATA100 Hard drive?

(can anyone make any model/make suggestions?)

thanks...

so what does OEM mean? They're out of the WD's.

OEM (original equipment manufacturer) are sometimes called whitebox or brownbox. These are products that don't come with fancy packaging and many times have a shorter warranty.

Almost all the hard drives I buy are OEM. That means it will only be the bare hard drive and doesn't come with IDE cables, mounting brackets, and manual.

Buying an OEM product will save you money.
