OK, I need to get a new VCR in about 3 weeks or sooner, any suggestions?

Specifically, I'm thinking about the Sony SLV models 50,60 or 70. They sell for $129, $149, and $169 respectively at B&M stores like BB and Fry's. I'm in CA, so I have to pay tax unless an onliner doesn't charge it.

Anybody have any suggestions on where I can get it cheaper than the prices listed? Also, does anybody know if the indexing feature is worth the extra $40 on the SLV70 model?

Come on, somebody out there must know of at least stores. List them off and I'll check the prices. The only one comning to mind is hifi.com and I was never impressed by their prices.

Help PLEASE!

800.com (http://www.800.com) has all 3 of those VCRs for the same prices you listed. You don't have to pay tax, but shipping is $9.95. I purchased a lot of DVDs from them in the past, and decided to go with them for my Harman/Kardon DD receiver because of their excellent customer service (Use it for up to 30 days, and if you don't like it, they'll pay the return shipping and refund your money). They used to have some decent coupons floating around, but it seems like they've been cutting down on them lately. Since you're only saving a couple bucks, your best bet is probably still Best Buy or some such store....at least you'll have the VCR in your hands instead of waiting a few days for it.

There, that might help the next 10 people who are looking for a place to get the best price...

I don't mean to sound b1tchy, but it really is more rewarding to do the work yourself... i.e. punch it up in a couple of search engines..
