(INspired by the Chicken Wopper post)
Okay, I try to eat healthy as much as possible when I go out, but sometimes I'm in a hurry and fast food is all there is. I was pretty stoked to see that Burger King came out with the BK Veggie, 11 grams of fat and a gardenburger-type vegetable patty. The thing is, I have ordered about ten of these and each one was cooked a different way...
I've had it:
soggy
undercooked
burnt
drowning in mayo
missing the veggie patty
burnt on one side
deep fried
etc...
Only once has it come out right. Has anyone else had this experience or know of any other healthy vegetarian-type burgers out there in fast food land?

just because it's vegetarian, don't make it healthy.
(11g of fat!!)

The point is that a regular wopper, no cheese is 39 grams of fat...plus if you order the veggie burger with no mayo, you knock 9 grams of fat off, add bbq sauce or something to make it tase good

I guess for normal people who want to get the same amount of fat in, maybe they can just buy veggie burger then they pop in a pill containing 28 grams of fat. Man, those fat pills are gonna score in big bucks...

as a vegetarian, i was pretty excited to see BK introuce veggie burgers. i tried them once.....they're decent. i mean, the "gardenburgers" they are using aren't the greatest veggie patties around, but they're ok.
when i had it, it was cooked well, and tasted good.
now my gf and her mom tried them at the same time (they're not vegetarians) and thought they were disgusting.
so if you're not into those veggie things, you may not like them too much.

Pfft. They're all veggie burgers.
Do you really think there's any meat in those hamburgers? :P
Frankly, if I want veggies, I'll eat a salad. If I want meat,
I'll eat a burger. At fast food places, the two already taste almost the same. Don't confuse me by making them LOOK the same too!
But its good for you jase71, don't you want to feel good? And if you meat an early demise who else is going to respond point by point to posts until the message length limit is reached? :(

No. Not if it means eating a vegetable pretending to be ground-up cow parts. If I'm going to eat something masquerading as ground-up cow parts, I want REAL ground-up cow parts. Not vegetables in drag.

I know how much you'll miss me when I'm gone, sbp...
But don't worry... quaduple bypass surgeries and heavy drugs will keep me around for far longer than you'll be able to stomach me.
Probably at least a couple more weeks... :P

Nothing wrong with a nice meatless meal - we try to do it several times a week - but it's always something like salad in breadbowls, or spaghetti with meatless tomato sauce. We don't try to "pretend" we're eating meat.
My wife loves to watch cooking shows. There's this one show that's all vegan. Every other dish is something that's made to "look like meat". They make "meat"loaf out of tofu and cashews and "turkey" out of breadcrumbs and tree bark. Heck, they even mold it into the shape of a turkey!
One other rant about hard-core vegans (you know, the one's who think that we shouldn't enslave animals for our own benefit.) Where do they think organic fertilizer comes from? I live on a farm and grew up on a farm, and have done my fair share of "organic" farming. One key ingredient in organic farming is copious amounts of manure. I mean piles and piles of it. Believe me, we don't go and gather it from the forest floor, either. It comes from large scale turkey farms and cattle lots right down the road. Yup, that's right. Your food is made possible by animals enslaved just to make poop for expensive carrots, okra and green beans! Sorry to burst your bubble!

That is so funny! Feeding organic plants manure! I am definitely not vegetarian myself although I do go many days without eating meet. I am not really concerned if my food is in drag or just being itself! The idea of eating a veggie burger at a fast food place is not to look cool like all those people stuffing their face with ground cow, its to have a healthier meal when you got limited time. Another good choice is the broiled fish tacos and burritos at rubios, even though most don't have drive throughs...
Usually when I go to a Thai restaurant, I will check to see if they have mock-chicken. I would perfer to eat that because in a Thai restaurant, you could put organic fertilizer in some of those curry sauces and have a hell of a meal!:munch:

A burger is not a burger without a meat pattie.
