I installed the Mandrake Linux 8.2 version on my girlfriend's computer. Everything seemed to be fine until the system stopped responding for 10 min. After I reboot, same thing happened at the same place so I used windows 98 bootup disk and found out everything is GONE! This is the first time I experienced this mother-fvcking bug/crash with Mandrake Linux. I've installed it on various systems with absolutely no problem.
Is there anyway that I can restore the info on the hard drive?

If the installation didn't format over the win98 partition and write over it, you may be able to recover some of it with a disk recovery tool from norton or something similar. Otherwise. . . there's always sending it in to a disk recovery center but that'll be waaaaay to expensive.

The thing is it stopped responding at the beginning of installation so I couldn't tell what it actually did. I'm gonna put that hard drive in my sys as a slave and see if I can save the content.
