Okay. . . I've been having no problems with sharing stuff on my XP box but with guest enabled. I want to have it password protected. I know in w2k it worked fine by setting up a user account for each user and allowing that user to access the folder I wanted to share. But some reason it ain't working out like that on XP. I want a 98 machine to be able to connect but. . . something going wrong.

I've been wondering how to share a folder on a network and password protect it. I used to do this with 98/ME... etc. But it's not the same in XP.
Anyone want to explain how to do this?
(if you would be so kind plese e-mail me at

This linky should tell you very easily how to do it. http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_filesharing/index.htm But for the short, you need to have user accounts set up is how you do it. So for example lets say you have a 98box that you want to access a protected file in your w2k/xp box. You'll need to setup a user account on the w2k/xp box and have it enabled to access the folder. Then boot up on the 98box with that username and password and you should be able to access it with password protection. But like I said, the link will give you all the info you need and explains it in more depth. If you need more help feel free to e-mail me or message me.
