Does anybody in San Diego know whats up with Computer Depot?!? They have the lowest prices around San Diego but are they worth it? I hear a lot of bad stories from people who used to shop frum them. They say that the prices are cheap coz the stuff is refurbished. I have shopped for parts there a couple of times and had to return two items coz they were faulty. THey have a 20% restocking fee which really hurts if u wanna return sumthing thats $200.i don't think most of their employees know anything ( i knew more than them). i juss wanna hear anybody's horror stories with them or just post any info you may know on them. I'm still debating on weather or not i should keep on shopping there(those prices are really LOW). http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/confused.gif

GameON, I've shopped with them for a couple years now and I'd say they have the lowest prices in SD. But beware of trying to buy the cheapest items without looking at brand names. Basically, buy the names you've heard before (i.e. Abit, Asus, Intel, Creative, etc.). Generics are definitely low-quality crap from them.

As for their return policy, the only way to really avoid that 20 percent restocking fee is to MAKE SURE you really want that product. Exchanges don't have fees. They will not do exchanges or returns of any kind on CPUs either (so you may want to hold back on clocking chips you buy from them).

Also, be sure you shop around on the net. Some items are way cheaper on-line than C-Depot. Example: Geforce cards. Go to pricewatch.com and compare for yourself.

Hope I've helped.

I would say shop elsewhere if at all possible, I found the couple times I went there that the people that work there aren't totally knowledgable and are more focused on selling computers to families and such.

i live in san diego too. i personally try to stay away from there and go to pc saver. its on balboa. i work over at Qualcomm and on our classifieds computer depot gets nothing but bad stuff said about them. NOBODY at work seems to like them. i have bought some stuff there but you pretty much get what you pay for.

i dont think i would actually recommend to buy from chips and memory. i know they have good prices but i heard some bad things about those guys.
what area of san diego are you in?
if you're in the clairemont area, i would definitely recommend pc saver and talk to either quinn, ken, john, and ronnie. these gus are real cool and always hook me up. also, chip merchant is pretty cool. thats where we get all our memory for work.

before i make ANY purchase, I research all the merchants in san diego to find the best prices... i think one of the best places to by cpu's and ram is at Chips and Memory. They sell PIII 700's BOXED for $229!! I bought 128 MB PC133 RAM for $99 (it's more now, but still cheap)

Sometimes Office Depot and Staples (believe it or not) have better deals on hard drives, and they're boxed too. Been to computer depot to buy some stuff, but it feels like a flea market =P
