what cable modem to buy and where.

Hi all, i'm geting cable internet on tuesday and I want to know which cable modem to buy. If you have a cable modem that works good, let me know.
Also please let me know why you think I ought to by that modem. I don't know any thing about cable modems so be gentle. I've always had dial up. Cable internet has just arrived at my location. Any help would be great. Thanks

I would recommend going with Toshiba. There is a new model out and it is very nice! I think it is the Toshiba DOCSIS PCX2200. 3Com, Linksys, and Motorola makes decent cable modems, too, so shop around and find one that fits in your budget. Also, you should probably make sure that they are compatible with your ISP's network.
