Are you sure they did it?

If so...Are you sure its their bike?

If you answer yes to both questions...CALL THE COPS!!!

Get it documented! Next thing you know, fluffy will have her head on a stick in the yard.

Yep I'm wondering if it's his bike or the neighbors. If its' theirs, no big deal just retarded neighbors. If its' his, then he's got something to worry about.

Hmmm...I guess they couldn't find any wooden crosses to burn huh? If they wanted you to get out, burning your bike nixes one mode of transportation for you to do that.

OR...the bike was probably racing down the street, jumped the curve, crashed onto your lawn and burst into flames!!:P

They always do that on the Simpsons at least...anyone remember when they had the tricycle fall and just spontaneously burst into flame. :heh:

I don't think we'll find an answer to this guys. I think this is a case for the X-Files. You never know. Some guy may have been riding the bike, and somehow he got zapped or abducted.

I've been watching too much X-Files. :P

Its times like that when you just need to call up Five Star Pizza and have a nice pie delivered.

Seriously though, time to think of moving somewhere that is in the _W section of town. (N or S) From the pics it looks like you are either in NE or SE G'ville. Some sketchy areas can be found. I mean, hell, even Five Star doesnt deliver to some parts of NE gainesville and East Side Pizza (actually Five Star Pizza's being delivered by another company) all carry guns on their delivery.

Whoa, pizza boys with guns:).

Well the reason for the guns was the original owner got jacked several times and finally ended up in the hospital. So what basically happened is a couple of drivers (friends of the owner) took up the route to help him while he was in the hospital. After one of them got jacked, they started carrying guns. When the old owner sold it the new guy had a policy that all drivers signed a liabilty relase form and paid more if you carried a licensed fire arm. What they all did was carry the gun in the pizza bag, so it looked like you were just carrying the pie. This way it was already drawn and ready for action if needed. There were only several drivers who would work for him, and all of them were allowed to carry guns. It was all on the up and up.

Isn't it illegal not to deliver pizza to certain neighborhoods-couldn't that be considered discrimination?

And what happens in a pizza deliverer live in one of these loony places where they can't basically own a gun? God forbid people be able to defend themselves!

Reminds me of the poor DC cab drivers who are robbed and killed.

Why would it be illegal? Its a private company providing a private service and doesnt qualify as a common carrier, which would enjoy special status. Additionally it was based on location, not who called in the order, so there isnt a basis for claiming discrimination.

Every place reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. (Most places have a sign placard with this on it). The area in question was just not included in the delivery area, but there were other areas of the town that werent included also.

As for buying the pizza's, if they wanted them they could come into the store itself, it just wouldnt be delivered to them. The guy who started East Side pizza charged twice as much as anyone just to go into the area and had a delivery fee, so the danger was taken into account. I personally would never have made the run, I even turned down a delivery fee of $15 (the owner was in a lerch and begged me to do it for him)...it just wasnt worth the chance of getting shot or robbed.

Saying "Every place reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason" just don't hold water with the government and groups out there. Companies have gotten into trouble for not delivering pizzas to certain neighborhoods. Also companies have gotten into hot water for not picking up passengers from certain neighborhoods or refusing to deliver passengers to those neighborhoods. Its because of who lives in the neighborhoods it is considered discrimination.

There is a difference between so called common carriers and private businesses. The courts actually look at whether the buisness is being held open to the public, the nature of the alleged discrimination, and other similar factors.

For example, in the Moose Lodge case, a person of color attempted to claim that because there was a liquor license (a state certification) that the moose lodge could not discriminate. The moose lodge was refusing to serve the person of color who was a guest of a member. The court said that the liquor license was not enough to change the nature of the private club into an open one and therefore it didnt have to serve people of color.

Compare that with a case where a restaurant had segregated seating in a building that was owned by the state. In that case, because there was the possibility of confusion that the state was sponsoring the discrimination, it was ruled illegal.

As you can see, it all depends on the business and if there is the possibility of governmental entanglement.

What you might have been thinking of is cases such as Denny's where by the business refused to serve people of color or treated them differently. What you have to remember is that Denny's had been in trouble from employment practices (which are federally protected) and they were holding themselves open to the public at large and then discriminating as a whole against a group of people, which since they are holding themselves out to the public and then disciminating on the basis of color is illegal.

Now if you look at the signs, which says that they can refuse service to anyone they want, they can, so long as there is not a discriminatory pattern. Thus, if they decided that they wont serve every third person, they could do this, so long as it just doesnt happen that every third person is of color and they no this.
