I never get tired of reading reviews on hardware better than my own. Thanks. :)
Oh, if you care, there's a little grammatical error in the last paragraph on the 2nd page.
Again, I should warn you, though - using RivaTuner or some such program to override XP refresh settings seems to end up effecting both monitors, and you can get out of sync errors, or a monitor that refuses to go higher than 8 bit 640x480 resolution. Also, Nview only affects the desktop, so don't expect to have some sort of extended Quake experience, though some games may start to support that sort of thing (I hope, I haven't actually heard anything on that). An RTS where one monitor always showed your home base would be down right cool. Somebody get on that.
Should be affecting. :D

Gah...I do that all the time too. Should be fixed now.
CF, I'm trying to get the Radeon and the Ti4200. Well, Darth is trying to get me them I should say. I want 'em in my database if nothing else, but I agree with you. Under 200 dollars is the magic price point.

Hi guys
Great review, i've had this card now for about 2 weeks and have been able to get it stable at 311 core and 670 on the memory. Games fly on my systema p4 1.8 clocked to 2.4 DDR333. I love the fact i can play games on one monitor and watch my d/l on the other.
overall i like this card at its features and am glad i waited for this particluar card.
However i feel should point out how crap there technical support. I never user technical support , mainly hehe because i am a 3rd line tech myself and am able to work most things out unaided. This time i had no choice, the version of wincoder/winproducer that came with my card seems to only install winproducer not wincoder i.e i have no video capture program just a editing one. If you look at the packaging of winproducer you will see a serial number for it but not one for wincoder. I had a look at the install cd ad there is a wincoder install directory in the winproducer directory.
Running setup only gives me a option to install winproducer and look at the features on wincoder.
I phoned tech support in germany and got no where fast, i was told call them 20 minutes later as they were going to ring taiwan.
When i phoned them back they told me Taiwan support were advisng them i didn't need a serial number i tried this (i knew it wouldn't work). When i phoned them again they just did not want to help but admitted there was a batch of ultra 700xp which had a problem with there install on winproducer/coder but did not know what to do about it ??
All i wanted to hear was sorry will be sending you out a correct cd or sorry hear is a serial number for wincoder or sorry we'll be in contact with you ... nope that was to hard for support team to comprehend.
I can't beleive there attitude as i had to force the guy to take my number and get in contact with me when he had a solution ... still waiting ...
The funny thing was he started moaning at me on the phone " How customers wanted something for nothing " all these features and customers hardly pay anything etc I laughed in his face and said anyone buying this would be buying for its advertised features and be willing to pay more, thats why i bought the card and it is the most expensive ti4400 in the u.k
Anyway i also mailed taiwan support and have heard nothing so i am wondering if anyone who has this card (the reviewer maybe ;)), would be kind enuff to post any info they have regarding th install of wincoder/winproducer their experiences etc
Thanks
HT

Well, for me it installs Winproducer, asks for the serial, then launches and installs WinCoder. Both programs fire up and seem to work, though I didn't/haven't attempted any actual video capture. But Win Coder is opening my avi files and stuff.
I had the same problem with Win coder on an Asus card, and it comes down to a bad serial number, which seems to be a problem on Intervideos end of the spectrum. Sorry to hear you've had problems with their tech support.

Thanks for the reply
Interesting you say its a bad serial as thats why probably the install of wincoder does not kick in.
I think i'll mail intervideo and see what they have to say otherwise i will have to start begging for it or maybe return it and a get a MSI !!! lol
By they way i saw this floating about ,
http://www.guru3d.com/forum/read_msg.php?tid=1848&forumid=detonator
disabling nwview in win2k , interesting maybe somone knows how to do this on XP ?

I would think it would work the same way, though I'm not sure I understand - for one thing, NView allows for differnt resolutions on different monitors.

Great review LP. :)
As with a few others though, I'm anxious to see what Gainward is going to do with a Ti4200-based card. If I can get a dual-display Ti4200 "Golden Sample" card, then I'll buy it. :)
(It should go great with the P4 1.6GHz setup I'll have within a month or so).

I agree, and I really really really hope Darth is able to get me one to test. Nview for under 200 bucks would be heaven.

Hi!
I am very curious about the Wincoder/producer. Is it posible to watch full screen video input through the composite or S-video ins on this card? I haven't seen a review touch on this issue before. I'd like to use this guy to watch films on like I do my current (aging) All-In-Wonder.
Also, does the AGP bus power the fan on these cards or does one need another branch from the main computer powersupply?
Thanks so very much in advance. And thanks for the review!

This particular card is VIVO enabled, so yes, you can watch video from it. I have only tried video capture with it, but input would work the same.
I'm not a big fan of Wincoder, so I haven't used it to actually watch videos - divx would be a better choice.
The fan is powered by the agp bus.
