I am looking to purchase my first home theatre system. I currently have a 25" Panasonic TV, which I do not plan on replacing, as it is only 4 months old.

For starters, I will not need progressive-scan support right now, but it would be a nice bonus feature. Also, I am willing to purchase a Home-Theater-in-a-Box or separate components, but I am only looking to spend about $600 - $800 for the entire system (dvd player, receiver, speakers, etc).

I have my eye on the JBL Cinema ProPack 600 (http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11099606&m=1&cat=1552&scat=242) at the moment. I have also considered the Energy Take-5 speakers and Onkyo components, but that is a bit out of my range.

Also, I will need to make this purchase in-store, and it needs to be this week (company visiting this weekend), so I will need all of the help that I can get!

Thanks!

that jbl propack looks like a decent option. since you're trying to find something quick and trying to buy it all in-store, i don't know how much better of a deal you can find.

of course, i'm rather partial to my own components: an onkyo tx-ds595, which i got for $300 (refurb) and a pansonic rp-56 dvd player, which cost $175. however, if you're looking to stay under $800, that would only leave you with $300 to spend on speakers, a subwoofer, and cables, and that would probably force you to skimp in those areas -- not a good idea.

other than that, i can't really give you much advice on package deals, because i didn't really look at those.

also, here's reviews from audioreview.com (http://www.audioreview.com/Mini,Systems/JBL,JBL,Cinema,Propack,600/PRD_125659_2749crx.aspx) about the JBL Cinema Propack 600, which i think is the same as the one you're seeing at best buy. check it out.
