Nero 5.5 baby... don't even try Roxio... it'll fry your computer. My friend installed it on win 2k and then spent the next 3 days setting up his computer from scratch again.

I picked Roxio/Adaptec. Thats the main one I use. Does the basics I need most of the time. Use the others such as Nero and CloneCD when I need the extra features.

I've been using Nero for years on various burners and it can always detect my new drive and provide the features I want.

When I am using a burning program, I ALWAYS use ENDITALL, a little program which ensures that there is nothing running in the background that could screw up the burn.

Hey there is nothing wrong with Easy CD creator if it works for you. I used to use it on my last install (in Win2K) and it worked without a hitch. I have XP now and I felt like trying something different. I use Nero for a bit a LONG time ago, but a couple of my friends use it a lot now and I wanted to try it again, so that is whay I am using currently.

EZ CD creator is sort of unstable. I had it a work and one day it just stopped working. At home, it would be working one day, and not the other.

ah good, Nero is winning.
Any company with the name "Ahead" makes cool products, more companies shoud use prepositions as their name... gives that tingling technological superiority sensation to customers.
ahead... :shivers:
I use Nero btw.

I labeled my last computer "burn-baby-burn".. Maybe that name is better suited for yours. :P

I use Nero for music and backups, and CloneCD for hard to burn stuff. :D

ok, just so i can look ignorant here:
i have a burner, but i use it very rarely (mostly because it tends to produce more coasters than playable CDs). so far, i've just used the software that came with the burner (it's an hp, external USB drive -- one disadvantage of having a laptop).
what are these other programs? do they cost money, or can i get them for free? would they tend to make my burner run better, or does the software not make that much difference?
could someone enlighten me here?

could someone enlighten me here? i have a laptop and i use the iomega zip burner. just burn at slower speeds, and test and burn to avoid coasters. i seldom do it now.
i use nero, btw.

Basiclly what happened to mine when I installed WinXP Home Edition on my computer. Nero hasnt done anything to my computer, unlike Roxio.
I've installed various versions of Adaptec/Roxio on a couple dozen 2k/XP boxes and have never had any trouble. It gets my nod, mostly because you can't extract ISO files with Nero. Nero is fine otherwise though.
