Anyone seen Spider-man

Yeah i saw it at 1 pm PDT. The movie was entertaining and my only complaints were the numerous changes they made to both the characters, timeline, history, etc. I mean they keep it relatively true to the original comics but there are sufficient changes that a die hard fan may be annoyed.

For anyone but the die hard, its going to be a great movie. For the die hard, its good enough to see.

oh what changes? I keep hearing this, I think it's a crock. The die hards can get over themselves.

I mean, when you compress 30 + years of comic history into 2 hours, you going to have to make some changes.

I personally found it quite enjoyable -- though I admit I wasn't really into the comics as a kid.

One change I've heard quite a lot though was the genetic vs. mechanical web slingers. Apparently in the comics, Peter Parker had to develop the web slingers himself, whereas in the movie they were part of the genetic mutation.

It's kinda like most adaptations however -- there will always be "some" changes which the die-hard fans don't like, yet the majority of people couldn't care less. :)

well frankly,the mutation makes more sense, if it is a bit on the gross side when you think on it too much.

i agree about the slingers...in the scope of the comic and the movie, a genetic mutation makes more sense...

all in all, i thought the flick was great...and yeah it's a little 'sappy' but it's a stage setter for the sequel...the action scenes are AWESOME and the story holds 'true enough' to the comic to make most viewers happy. i'm not a die hard comic fan, but i definitely enjoyed them as a kid...and i left the theater feeling happy about the 8 bucks i spent...well 16, my girl went with me.

Yep. Good flick. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to.

I was never a big comic book fan... and i never really was a Spidey fan on top of that. Years ago, I actually thought his webs WERE a genetic thing until it mentioned they weren't in one of the few comics I read, way back when. I was disappointed. I liked it better when they weren't equipment...

So the movie worked well for me.

Spidey and the first of the Batman series are the only "superhero" movies I've really enjoyed... Might actually go see Spidey again...

The dialogue was a bit sappy and melodramatic at times, but aside from a few :rolleyes: near the end, the movie was good, and the action sequences were great!

Obviously people generally liked it, seeing as how it broke opening weekend box-office records.

The previous holder of that spot was Harry Potter ($90.3 million). Spider-Man smoked that with a $114 million debut!

Well, I think it has a wider audience. The adults that used to read the comics and the kids that do now.

I wonder how much Tobey Maguire got paid.

Saw the movie. I thought it was great. True enough to the comics I think, but that doesn't really matter. The film itself was great. Definately one of the ones you can rent again when it comes out on DVD and blast on a nice home theatre system.

I believe the argument that die-hard Spiderman fans were trying to make as far as the mechanical web slingers was to emphasize Peter Parker's natural intellect. If I recall correctly, the only time the movie demonstrated this was during the tour of the lab. It seems they might've spent a bit more time showing off his fashion sense than his intellect during the movie.

On another subject, Tobey Maguire supposedly made $4 million for Spider-Man and he's looking at a check of at least $10 million for the sequel.

ah.. I heard that he signed up to do three movies. I guess it is just three movies in general, not all Spiderman. Though, the the first 2 of those three contracted will be Spiderman and the sequal. I also heard that he will be producing the next one, also. More $$ for him.
