Force the Flashing of a BIOS

I've got an ASUS p4b266-C.

I flashed it with a p4b bios by mistake, i figured they were the same thing. It flashed but now my on board USB is it screwed up. Now i am tring to flash it with a p4b-266c bios. I've tried every single one, the original i saved and the same bios thats currently on there and it gives me a check sum error. Any ideas?

i have heard, but never seen, that some bios' have a jumper that clears the info out of the bios. this is probably only to 'restore the factory default settings' rather than to completely erase the memory on the bios. so it might not work, but you should find out who makes the bios and check with them, rather than with the mobo manufacturer, if possible. good luck

Doesn't this method just reset the BIOS settings, not the actual BIOS itself? I could be wrong, but that is just waht i though.

That is just for the settings of the BIOS...it doesn't clear out the flash memory of the BIOS chip itself.

skynet - Maybe make sure that there is not a protection thing in the BIOS settings? I know that my mobo has a setting that makes it so that you can't flash you BIOS as a protection against the CIH (I think) virus. It could be that after you Flashed the BIOS is automatically set it back to non-flashable.

Nope no protection like that, I flashed it a few times until i got to the wrong BIOS.
