sdram transfer one chunk of information per clock cycle while ddr ram transfers two chunks of information per clock cycle. This means ddr ram has more bandwidth to give and can provide better performance. Which one to get is easy-go with ddr ram. ddr ram will cost the same or be cheaper in price than sdram.
