Hmmm . . . ya know they ARE trying to get REAL information. As a result of trying to take advantage of their $25 gc offer, you're costing them a lot . . . not just in the GC's, but more importantly in the info. They're trying to improve their service, and now they're going to be making changes based on false info. I don't think this is something that should have been taken advantage of.

I just checked anand$#@! (sorry, can't type that without cursing). Anyway, it doesn't appear they have gotten a hold of this yet, so (crossing fingers) it may actually work.
Okay people, here's our chance to show we don't abuse things like anand%$#@ losers. Let's let everyone in who can get it.
Tim
i hope no one gets deals from HERE and posts them on anadtech. that would be awful. thats like treason. I mean if stuff COMES from there, thats cool, but if anyone takes deals that START here, and post there, that is like deal suicide. I realize there are other sites that report from here, and then anandtech gets it, but i hope no one is like, "woohoo, i'm gonna post this on anandtech now so they give me props!".

I hope you all realize that you are taking advantage of a non-profit organization that works towards improving everyone's health. The results of this survey are used by the American Heart Association(AHA) and it is for medical professionals. I'm not trying to come down on anyone, but I'd like to suggest that you reconsider getting in on this deal. Those of you who know or know of someone with heart disease might understand.

Pennypinch, don't be an an *******. Butch made an intelligent point so you pissed on *him*. Way to go.
I'll take AltaVista for $500 if I can, but leave me out of fleecing the American Heart Association with bogus survey data. It's just plain wrong.

Hearts a way overrated, Butch...makes you all soft and crap. "Oooh, look at the little baby, isn't he cute!" "Oh, the old people, we shouldn't take advantage of them!" "Oh, the poor wife, Fred Lane was beating the bejesus out of her, she shouldn't have shot him dead!" *hmph*...makes me sick really. If you're smart, you'll do what I did and have it removed! http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Uneasy: no thang but a chicken wang. Butch is used to my abuse. Re: above paragraph.

As regards UNICEF: FIRST OF ALL, that kid was straight asking for it, mouthing off about "trick or treat" and smack like that, just to get a rise out of me. SECONDLY, that gaggle of monkeys we call the UN couldn't appropriate that money if it's survival depended on it. The money is MUCH more productive in my hands. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
really, think about it. they are PAYING for this survey, and most people who do it know they are. that alone is a swaying factor. Next, it's on the internet. Like everyone just proved, anyone can get to it, so the results are not that accurate to begin with.
and thirdly, just to pour some gasoline http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif,
what if some exec from altavista had a heart condition or had a link to the aha on thier webpage? would you stop trying to get money from them?
a deal is a deal is a deal, they know who their contacts are, and if they don't, thats their serious mistake.
Remember when reading this, that I do NOT agree with more than one GC

The AHA is a non-profit, and has limited funds to get information to help fight heart disease. They want info, and have budgeted X amount to gather this information. They may not be able to afford web developers who know how to track sessions, email a unique key, etc. Taking advantage of this is wrong.
AltaVista is a big sophisticated VC-backed startup and should know better. And apparently they do, according to the verbage of the terms of the contest.
I therefore choose to try to loophole AV and not the AHA. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif

I think if you submit accurate information, and don't do it several times (as one person wrongly suggested) then the survey can be useful (to a degree).
Meanwhile, the interchange between Pennypinch and Butch is hilarious. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

I may be skeptical, but i'm almost sure they're not gonna give out all those GC's...i mean, c'mon, they're trying to help heart patients, I doubt they'd take all their allocated money used for helping people and give people about 40 GC's each (I *KNOW* there's people who signed up that many times). Ahhh well...i'd rather see lives saved than a couple free dvd's.
points well taken, lets take the 'liberal' route and only screw big companies. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
note: most of the above reply is a joke. I wanna give my GC's back if they ever give them to me, or just not honor them. hope this helps.
thank you
Thanks Loki, thats reassuring to hear--but I'll believe it when i see it!! (i.e. when I get there!)
Civic-good point (and to the others who decided to be honest: the medical profession thanks you). Filling out the survey and getting the GC is fine- after all, they need info and you are providing it. But doing it multiple times is just plain selfish.

Have some self control people. The AHA is a great organization. After all, hear disease is a huge killer in America. Use some common sense and stop trying to be so greedy.

Ummm . . . yeah . . . for once, I agree with PennyPinch . . . (That greedy bastard . . . hehe) What are you saying with this post?
To me, it seems like one is one too many. Sure, it's still probably cheaper for them to have performed an internet survey than to have hired a market research firm to do interviews with members of the AHA on a 1-to-1 basis, but the valuable thing to them is NOT the money . . . it's the information. EVEN if you answer the questions as honestly as YOU can, YOU are not qualified to answer them. If you submitted the survey, then I feel you took part in a tremendous disservice to society. I don't mind fleecing Altavista et al . . . but this is different.
I'm not exactly sure how the compensation system between Amazon.com and the AHA works, but I encourage everyone who receives the GC to NOT redeem it in the hope that the AHA will not be charged.
It's just wrong.
~Butch
PS-PennyPinch . . . yeah, that kid was a little pain in the ass, and he WAS asking for it . . . but shoot . . . I'm pretty sure the UN could have spent the money better than YOU did! I mean, c'mon . . . how does a keg of Red Dog and a year's subscription to Maxim help the poor, starving kids of the world??? . . . (c:
