I was wondering when I look at network cards it says it's 10/100 Mbs. How much does this equal in terms of megs per second?

Depends on what network you have. A 10mbs network can transfer at close to 1.5 megs per second I've found. I've never been on a 100 mbs network.

Yeah, this is probably ideal. I haven't tested my current network, but the last 10mbs network I was on would only transfer between 800-900KB/s.

100Mbps = 100 megabits per sec / 8 bits per byte = 12.5 megabytes per second max throughput.
In real life, expect to see about 30-50% of that, so ~4-6 MBps
