have posted this problem before i think, but still have this problem that won't go away. my recycle bin shows that there is nothing in it, but when i go to empty it, it gives me this error saying:
"cannot remove folder..... cannot find the specified file......make sure you specify the correct path and filename."
If i switch users on windows xp pro. this problem does not occur, but i want to figure this problem out on my administrative account. anyone know how to fix this? I have run a virus scan so i know that isn't the problem. Thanks.

well, yeah when i look in the recycle bin there is nothing there at all. but it still gives me the option of emptying the recycle bin. it shouldn't be even giving me this message, so there must be some type of hidden file or something in there thats giving me this error message. see what im saying?

I had this problem and I rebooted. If that doesnt work for you, try defragging then doing disk clean up.

norton utils tend to fudge with stuff especially your recycling bin. right click the recycle bin and click empty "norton protected files..." or something like that. i think that should get rid of the errors.

already did that and didn't help. i might just uninstall norton systemworks 2002 and then reinstall it. not sure though, because this problem seems to be unsolvable. asked many people, even microsoft support.

i know that XP doesnt have a real MSdos mode, but you could try going into that fake dos mode (or maybe even a command prompt) and going to c:\RECYCLER and do a "dir /ah" and see if there is really anything in there.
with MSdos mode like that, you usually can unhide all the files that windows will like to hide. good luck

I don't have a c:/recycler or c:/recycle, what does that mean?

its there, just hidden. do "dir /ah" to find all hidden files.
/a for attributes, h for hidden. it should pop up something like recycled or recycler. i would go into XP and see what its called ,but my install of xp is so hosed....

I had a similar problem a while back, a good ol' reboot did the trick though...
