not when a Samsung for about $80 less will do 2-2-2 at 200mhz :-)

Drive to frys = $5 in gas
Total time spent = 2 hours
Corsair XMS2700c2 cooled = $199+tax
Getting 8600* on 3dmark = :wow:

*Air cooled p4 @2.3Ghz, ti200 @229/530 and DDR @35xMhz cas2.

Best RAM on the planet!

another good article from last month. i like reviews that are done with store bought items. as with everything computer related, your performance may vary.

I usually get Crucial, but that Corsair looks pretty damn good.

Check out Pricewatch, you can get that Corsair for $120.

but what size for $120?

I can get Samsung PC2700 512MB for $114 and that will go to 220Mhz at conservitave settings and up to 200 or so at more agressive settings.

Also...isn't 8600 a bit low for 3dmark?

not with a ti200 air cooled.

dredd, all that good stuff you run and your being held back by your ram. crucial is decent ram for what it is. corsair much better for ocing.
what kind of marks do you get with the ti4600 powering your system? i bet they'd be much higher if you had some better ram.
:P

Well, the crucal was #2, #2, #3 in the benches in that first review, but then that is pc2700 where DREDD has 2100.

my 645 ultra mobo is rated at 333mhz c2 but i take it closer 360mhz c2 while ocing. it gives me just the right amount of room.
latest ram article ive found corsair/crucial(as always your mileage may vary and i'm not sure if the companies knew they were shipping to a reviewer):

at the moment i would think that mushkin is the BEST way to go, 89$ for a stick of 256 3000, its high quality ram, and OCs as good if not better then corsair.

Mushkin, OCZ, Corsair, and Samsung PC3000/PC3200 sticks of ram are all basically the same. They all use the same chips and all pretty much overclock to the same level. It's all about which one you like better and how much money you want to spend.

Samsung is the biggest company of the four followed closely by Mushkin. OCZ/Corsair there is no sales statistics available since they are both privately held companies.

Overclocking differences between these four companies can be attributed to differences in the assembly of the sticks of ram. Sometimes you get some great ram, sometimes it's just so-so. Choosing any one of the four will get you some pretty kick ass ram.

There's good sticks and bad sticks with all companies. I have seen a lot of people that get the best overclocks with OCZ ram, others that get better with other brands. When all the companies are making almost the exact same product its hard to say that one is better/worse that the other. And all these companies really are using the same ram chips.

not bad, you are the champ with such a high score. Better ram could get you to 11k but with that card i doubt it matters. Games etc look great on it.

i might borrow a friends ti4600 and than we can have a shoot out :P.
1st, i want to break 9k w/ my ti200 air cooled. the best ti200's are a little higher than your score, but the only way i could see that is with dry ice/etc and thats not for daily use. my card is pretty much maxed at 229/530 and my score 8628 is pretty high for a legit rig.
