I'm planning on getting a used Thinkpad T21 soon, and this will be my first laptop purchase. It comes w/ a Cd/DVD drive, but no burner.

I wanted to add on an external CD-R for laptops. Any suggestions? Also, I've been reading about USB 2.0. Do you think this computer will have it? IF not, is it worth, or is there even an available usb 2.0 conversion card for laptops?

Thanks

99.999999% sure it won't have 2.0, there aren't many new lappies that have 2.0 as it is. But there are 2.0 pc cards you can get. Also if you don't want to spring for one, many of the 2.0 external usb burners are backward compatible with usb 1.1 and will burn at 4x max. As goes for brands . . . uh TDK has one not sure how good but should be ok.
