Is 250w antec powersupply enuff to power my gig?
thunderbird 1.2ghz cpu on ecs mobo
dvd rom
LG 8x cdrw
20gig hd
floppy
I just don't want to spend another 30dollars on 300w ps....

thats kinda pushing it but you might be ok. Try it out, if you have any problems it'll most likely be because of the power supply.

My 250 barely turns on my p3 system, I wouldnt think it would power that.

enermax 431watt ps purchased at newegg...
it better be as quiet as they claim...
thanx for your inputs...i didn't think 250w would be enuff either.

Yeah 250W might be pushing it. With the burner you might get some insufficient power errors while burning.

You are pushing with 250W PSU. You need at least a 300W PSU!

Much better choice. I had a 300W on my Athlon, and there was a problem warm powerup (i.e., it often wouldn't until I blew a fan through the case for a few minutes). Once I switched to a 400W supply, no more problems.
Good to see a bigger power supply was bought. :thumb:
The power supply is one thing not to skimp on. 300 watts is the minimum I recommend. If a person can get more, thats even better.
I use a 400 watt Antec PP412X in my main system.

Yeah, you get a bit preformance difference for not much more money.

Is there actually a performance boost with more wattage?
What was meant was you are getting a bigger power supply for not much more money. A good power supply means less problems like freezes.
