internet in france

hi. i'm letting my friend borrow my dell inspiron 4100 while she goes abroad to france for a year of school. does france use Cat 5 cables too that would fit my RJ-45 port? just want to make sure. anything she should get besides a power adaptor/voltage adapter? thanks.
